Making a Donation to The Wesley
If you would like to donate any reusable items to the Wesley then please either drop off at St Wilfreds Church or call our Transport Office on 0161 226 9051 (*during opening hours) to arrange for one of our vans to come and collect from you – throughout Greater Manchester and North Cheshire. We can collect items from bedrooms as well as downstairs areas, but please ensure hallways, stairs and through-routes are clear of obstacles – NB we cannot remove safety boots/wear overshoes for safety reasons.
If you have bulky items that we cannot take then your local council can dispose of them for you; details of how to contact your council can be found on our links page. Some councils may charge for this service. Please note: if you need us to collect items from you please be aware that we can be booked up several days ahead, so please contact us as early as possible. You can also drop off donations to our shop during opening hours 9.00-4.30pm Monday to Friday, but otherwise please don’t leave things outside!
Fire Regulations
If you have soft furnished items to donate please first check to see if the item has a 1988 Fire Retardant Fabrics regulation tag – usually on sofas and armchairs this can be found under the cushions or on the underside. We cannot take items without these tags as Trading Standards law prohibits the sale of non-fire retardant soft furnishings.
Sorry...
We accept donations of furniture, domestic appliances, household goods, bric-a-brac and clothing from individuals and companies. We can only take items that are in a clean reusable/re-saleable condition, and, unfortunately, we cannot process gas appliances, computer equipment (see our links page), or older TVs (Cathode Ray Tube models).
Donate your unwanted furniture at Sinderland Road Household Waste Recycling Centre in Trafford
If you have items to donate but cannot be in during our Operating/van collection times or get to our shop during Opening times, then non-electrical household items can be donated to a Reuse container at the Sinderland Road Household Waste Recycling Centre. Please ask site staff if you need assistance – they can help with any lifting and carrying.
NOTE: height restrictions for private vehicles: the HWRC limits access for commercial vehicles, vans etc.

Do you own a vehicle that you want to dispose of?
Giveacar is a UK based fundraising organisation that organises car donation for good causes in the UK, including Wesley Community Furniture.
They provide a FREE service which is available throughout the UK, and can work with you hand-in-hand in the following ways:
They can arrange the collection of the vehicle at no cost to you;
Depending on its age and condition, they can either recycle it at a green facility, or send it to a salvage auction;
Scrap donations raise an average of £100 for the charity, with auction cars often raising much more. Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has raised over £700,000 for over 800 charities!
To arrange donation of a car to Wesley Community Furniture, visit giveacar.co.uk or call 020 0011 1664, quoting Wesley Community Furniture as your preferred charity.
